NOH AS PRACTICE: mind and body in performance

The ancient Japanese stage art of noh has much to teach contemporary theater artists, dancers, musicians, poets and others about the power of mind/body awareness both their work and in their lives. Noh as Practice, a two-week intensive workshop that culminates in a full week of personal instruction by professional noh master Kinue Oshima, will hone your concentration, amplify your stage presence, and open new aesthetic vistas that will enrich your creative work.


The workshop features:

- Daily lessons in noh chant and dance by senior members of Theatre Nohgaku and noh professional Kinue Oshima

- Yoga sessions led by Morgan McKenzie

- Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement sessions led by Naoko Maeshiba

- Sitting Meditation sessions led by Jean Ann Wertz


Program Fee: $1150 ($1100 cash or check discount); includes housing, tuition, master classes, study materials and dance fan.
